Out of Chaos, Hope
The Presbyterian Church USA has organized cleanup activites in the southern states devastated by hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
Knox has sent a group of 13 adults to a Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) Volunteer Village in Orange Grove, Gulfport, Mississippi for the week of April 14-21st.

Currently, PDA is operating six Volunteer Villages along that coast, each capable of housing and feeding up to 125 inhabitants. The Villages are simple tent communities located on church or municipal property, or on private land; conditions within them are similar to those at a good camp ground. The volunteers come from all over North America, and to offset the operating costs, including all meals, volunteers pay US$20.00 per night.
The team from Knox estimates that travel, accomodation and meal costs were approximately Cdn $600 per person for the week.
The Team From Knox Would Like To Thank You For:
- Your Prayers for the team while they were in Mississippi.
- Your Continued Prayers for the PDA organizers, for the other volunteers, and for the men, women, and children they served while they were there.
- Your Donations that helped to offset the costs.
- Thanks to Shelley Brubacher and Rev. Linda Ashfield for organizing the group from Knox.
