The Al Dandals have moved in!

The Syrian refugee family of five (Alaa, Wazira, Batoul, Bayan, and Anwar) are now living in a lovely Waterloo apartment filled with furniture donated by many members of Knox. MANY THANKS to all the donors and deliverers!  

The children have been assessed for language levels and school assignments, and dealing with paperwork for various government requirements is underway. There is still much to do!

How can you help?

  • Pray that the family can settle in and adjust to classes and life in general in Canada.

  • Donate to Knox's Refugee Fund to help with expenses during the coming year.

  • Look over the "Clothing Needed" list below and bring items to church THIS SUNDAY, April 12th.

Clothing Donations Needed

The children of our Syrian newcomers will soon start school, but each family member currently has only two outfits and no summer clothes.

They need shirts, pants, shorts, coats (winter and spring), raincoats, hoodies, sweaters, track shoes, good shoes, boots. Any clothing for mom or the girls must have long sleeves.

The children also need backpacks for school.

Look over the table below to see if you have items that would fit them. Please bring your donations to Knox on Sunday morning, April 12th. Contact Barb or Nancy Moffatt for information or to make alternate arrangements (e.g., to have your donations picked up.)

Other Needs

The family could use better phones so if you have upgraded and are wondering what to do with your old one that is still in good condition, let us know. Please supply the technical details for the phone. There is also the need for several single bed blankets.
