A Celebration of the 132nd Anniversary of Knox Waterloo

Prelude Make Me a Blessing (Ira Wilson/George Schuler)

Call to Worship

One: We gather, looking back to see the paths taken,
ALL: grateful for the journey to Here and Now.
One: We honour those who have gone before us,
ALL: grateful for their successes and failures.
One: We celebrate who we are today,
ALL: and welcome the possibilities and opportunities before us.
One: We gather to remember that God goes with us:
ALL: yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Hymn #814  Morning has broken

Gathering Prayer and Lord’s Prayer

Our father in heaven, hallowed be  your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread,
And forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
And deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen.

Prayer of Confession (unison)

Generous God, we humbly confess that
we are often “pack rats.”
You continually pour gifts and blessings
into our lives and we hide them away
for fear that they might disappear
or not be worthy of approval.
We squander them wastefully on things
that are not healthy or helpful to others.
We confess that we have not always
recognized the talents we have been given.
We find it easier to belittle the gifts
than to honour the giver.
Instead, help us to use our gifts
to create something better,
that will offer healing and hope in your world.|
Amen.

Assurance of God’s Grace

Peace Invocation: “Put peace into each other’s hands” (Fred Kaan, John Bell.  From Common Ground #103)

Put Christ into each other’s hands,
he is love’s deepest measure;
in love make peace, give peace a chance,
and share it like a treasure.

Lord of All Good (Louis Bourgeois, Albert F. Bayly, from Sing the Journey #60)

Lord of all good, our gifts we bring to you
Use them your holy purpose to fulfill
Tokens of love and pledges brought anew
That our whole life is offered to your will
Lord of all good, our gifts we bring to you

Prayer of Dedication

In these moments of gratitude,
we offer you a portion of all that
you have given to us, Gracious God.
We do so, trusting that you will take them,
and multiply them,
so all might be blessed by your love,
your peace, and your hope. Amen.

Scripture  Matthew 25:14-30

Hymn of the Month:  Rain Down (Jaime Cortez From Sing the Journey #49)

Chorus:

Rain down, Rain down
Rain down your love on your people
Rain down, Rain down
Rain down your love, God of life

Verse 3:

God of creation, we long for Your truth
You are the water of life that we thirst
Grant that Your love and peace touch our hearts
All of our hope lies in You.
