Call to Worship

One: Giving God, we are filled with gratitude:
ALL: for the gift of creation,
One: for the gift of friends and family,
ALL: for the gift of stories,
One: for the gifts of learning and knowledge,
ALL: for the gifts of questions & doubt,
One: for the fire of enthusiasm,
ALL: for the wind of reason.
One: For all we understand, for all that remains a mystery, for your loving presence in and through all,
ALL: we are filled with gratitude!

Hymn #802 “For the fruits of all creation”

Gathering Prayer and sung Lord’s Prayer

Gracious God, source of all Blessings, you have been extravagant in your Generosity. You have planted within us the seeds of Hope. You have nurtured within us the sprouts of Faith. You have harvested the fruits of your Creations and spread before us the feast of all Possibility. Words cannot express the gratitude with which we come before you.
May we embody our thanks with extravagant generosity. May we offer our lives to you in acts of compassion.
May we walk gently upon the earth, ever mindful of your gifts of Breath, of Love, of Life.
(Lord’s Prayer, sung)

Assurance of God’s Grace

Peace Invocation: “Put peace into each other’s hands” (Fred Kaan, John Bell)

Put peace into each other’s hands,
and like a treasure hold it;
protect it like a candle flame;
with tenderness enfold it.

Hymn “For the life that you have given”

For the life that you have given,
For the love in Christ made known,
With these fruits of time and labour,
With these gifts that are your own:
Here we offer, Lord, our praises;
Heart and mind and strength we bring;
Give us grace to love and serve you,
Living what we pray and sing.

Prayer of Dedication

Gracious God, we present our gifts to you as symbols of our thanksgiving for all we have received from the earth. Bless these gifts and multiply them, just as Jesus multiplied a few loaves and fish to bless others. Use our gifts and our energy to share your love in our community and around your world, in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Scripture

Deuteronomy 26:1-11

Hymn of the Month:  #456 “Be present at our table Lord” (Trad, T. Tallis)

Be present at our table, Lord;
be here and everywhere adored.
These mercies bless and grant that we
may feast in fellowship with thee.
