This Sunday, February 16th we hear the story of Moses’ farewell speech to his people (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). As they get ready to cross the Jordan River and head into the promised land, Moses reminds them that though the journey in the wilderness has been hard, they have come to know God and rely on God. Soon life will be easier, but Moses fears that the Hebrew people will forget their wilderness experience and their relationship with God. He says they have some important choices before them. We have many choices in life; sometimes our choices are easy, sometimes difficult.  How does being a follower of Jesus help us with the decisions we make in life? The choir is singing “Freedom is coming” and one of our new music scholars Jessy Ernewein will be singing “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”.

The Annual Reports for 2019 can be picked up at church and is available online for download. Our Annual Meeting is set for Sunday, February 23rd at 2 pm in the church hall. Childcare is provided and there will be tea/coffee/cookies.

As disciples of Jesus, may we choose the life that seeks the way of reconciliation; a life that contributes to the good of the whole community; a life that shares with generosity; a life that goes beyond well-known borders; a life in Christ that brings joy and purpose.

In Christ’s love,

Linda Ashfield, Associate Minister
