2019 Annual Meeting is on Sunday, February 23rd, at 2 pm in the Hall.

2019 Official Receipts for Income Tax have been emailed to everyone who has provided us with an email address. For those who do not have email, your tax receipts are available for you to pick up at the Welcome Desk.

No Food For Thought February 16th & 23rd due to Reading Week. Knox’s university-age dinner and study group will resume Sunday night, March 1st.

Student Care Packages – At this time of year we like to send a small care package to those students who are nearing the end of their first year of post-secondary schooling. If you are able to help out by providing 2 dozen homemade cookies that would be very much appreciated. Cookies should be nut-free and easy to pack as some will be sent by mail. Wed@Knox, Feb 19th Gert Hartman: The Schlegel-University of Waterloo Research Institute for Aging (RIA): Finding Innovative Solutions  – The RIA is a non-profit, charitable foundation dedicated to enhancing care and quality of life for older adults. The RIA’s research team collaborates with students and research teams across the country and around the world to conduct applied research on topics ranging from cardiovascular health, dementia, medication, and mobility, to arts, education, technology, spirituality and nutrition. As Director of Community Partnerships and Business Development at the RIA, Gert Hartmann’s presentation will highlight a few key research initiatives and share how the RIA is changing the culture of aging by developing and disseminating innovative products and services.

Logos needs a volunteer to help Shirley Carter make fun and creative centrepieces related to the theme of the week. Most of this can be done on your own time and then before dinner each Thursday (5:15 until about 6 pm). Shirley will share the job, her expertise and resources with this individual. Coffee Hour Hosts Needed – Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board! This is a great way for you/family/friends to get involved and meet people. It’s easy. Coffee is made for you and you just need to refill and clean up after the service!

Sunday, February 23rd, is PWS&D Sunday! Guy Smagghe, the director of PWS&D, will be our guest speaker . It is a day to celebrate the ways our church is responding around the world to help lift vulnerable families out of hunger, poverty and oppression. We also pray for those who struggle for basic necessities, and think about how we can help make a difference. On Feb 9, 16 and 23 Global Partners will be offering fair trade chocolate for sale as well as the opportunity to purchase Gifts of Change which directly help those in need. The children and youth of Knox Church are taking on The Presbyterian World Service and Development Sunday School Challenge again this year. Next Sunday (February 23rd) our Junior Highs will be selling homemade cookies during coffee hour to help open classroom doors in vulnerable communities across the globe (more details on bulletin board).
