RAINBOW COMMUNION REPORT

Rainbow Communion is a special committee formed by the 2017 General Assembly. This committee had been empowered to invite LGBTQI people and others to tell stories of harm done to them within and by the church, and to share their stories of God’s grace experienced by them in Christian ministry. The completed report, written by committee conveners Sue Senior and the Rev. Dr. Bob Faris, will be presented to the 2021 General Assembly, June 6-9. The report–in full or in summary–is available in text and audio formats at this site. The whole church is invited to hear the stories shared, and to respond to the call to confession and healing for harm done.

PWS&D APPEAL

India is currently in the midst of a dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases, threatening its healthcare system and leaving already vulnerable families in crisis.
For more than a week, over 300,000 cases have been diagnosed daily. So far over 220,000 people have died in India and the crisis is only worsening. PWS&D is preparing to respond with its partners and ACT Alliance members in India to support people who are sick or quarantined at home with provisions to buy medicines and for other emergency needs. Additionally, they will work with communities to share messages on infection prevention and control, as well as information on vaccines.

FINAL THOUGHT…

“Whatever ember of love for goodness flickers within us, however feeble or small… that’s what the Spirit works with, until that spark glows warmer and brighter. From the tiniest beginning, our whole lives—our whole hearts, minds, souls, and strength—can be set aflame with love for God.”
