We have reason to celebrate! This year, Knox Waterloo marks 137 years of faithful witness and ministry in the heart of Waterloo. You are invited to join the celebration on Sunday, November 2nd as we give thanks for all that God has done and continues to do through us.
Our theme this year is Learning to Love: Discipleship in a Multicultural World, inspired by Mark 12:28-34, where Jesus reminds us of the greatest commandment: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbours as ourselves. In our diverse and ever-changing world, we are called to keep learning what love looks like in practice - a love that listens deeply, honours differences, and builds belonging across cultures, generations, and experiences.
We invite you, in a spirit of gratitude and hope, to give a special financial gift to Knox in honour of our Anniversary. Thanks to your generosity last year, we have set a new target of $30,000 in Anniversary gifts this year. May you find joy in participating in this joyful initiative!
There are several easy ways to be generous. You may:
drop a gift off at the church: 50 Erb Street West (Mon-Thurs 9am-4pm)
mail a gift to: 50 Erb Street West, Waterloo, Ontario N2L 1T1
call the office with a credit-card number: 519.886.4150
send an e-transfer to: knox@knoxwaterloo.ca
While all gifts are greatly appreciated, some people choose to give a gift of one dollar (or a multiple thereof) for each year of our church's history. This year that would be:
(x1) $137, (x2) $274, (x3) $411, (x4) $548, (x5) $685, or even (x10) $1,370.
We are delighted to welcome as our Anniversary Sunday guest speaker the Rev. Dr. Hyung Jin (Pablo) Kim Sun, who serves as Intercultural Liaison for The Presbyterian Church in Canada, where he supports church leaders and congregations in cultivating healthy intercultural communities grounded in humility, mutual respect, and belonging. Of Korean descent, Pablo grew up in Paraguay and came to Canada by way of the United States.
We look forward to gathering with you in person or online at 10 a.m. on November 2nd, as we celebrate 137 years of God's faithfulness and our shared call to live out Christ's love in the world.
With gratitude and love
Hugh and Courtney
