Holy Week

If someone were to ask you “Why does the church exist?” your response could be a single word: “Easter!” The story of the resurrection of Jesus is the DNA of the church. In fact, every Sunday through the year is a kind of mini-Easter, a time for us to gather and remember the love which cannot be defeated, the hope which is born in us anew, and the peace which is God’s dream for the world.

You are welcome to participate in the following worship gatherings during Holy Week:

  • March 29, 10am – Palm Sunday Intergenerational: We join the parade with Jesus and those waving palm fronds long ago.

  • April 2, 5:00pm– Maundy Thursday Meal & Worship: We share a simple meal together in the church hall, remembering the meal Jesus shared with his friends on the night before his death. The story will continue in the sanctuary at 6:15 with song and sacrament. You may attend either or both of these events.

  • April 3, 10am – Holy Friday: We remember the compassion of a God who suffers with Creation.

  • April 5, 7:30am – Early Morning Easter Service: We gather at Knox and walk to Waterloo Park for a short service of story and song. You are also invited to a potluck breakfast in the hall on Easter Sunday morning, 8:15 - 9:30 am (please bring something to share; coffee & juice will be provided). You may attend either or both of these events.

  • April 5, 10am – Easter Celebration: We gather for a celebration of the Mystery of resurrection, featuring the Full House Brass and Knox Chancel Choir.

Please consider supporting the ministries of Knox with an Easter gift (over and above your regular offering). This is one way you can help your church grow into new life! A convenient way to make an offering is through e-transfer to knox@knoxwaterloo.ca. You may also donate through our website, by calling the office at 519-886-4150 and using your credit card, or by dropping off a donation at Knox.

Thank you for your generosity! The Peace of Christ be with you.
