AGM Update
Update from the March 2nd Annual Meeting
by Deb Schlichter, Clerk of Session
Thank you to those who participated in the virtual Annual Meeting on March 2, 2025. I counted over 50 people, many more than in previous years!
Annual Meetings are an important time to reflect on the past year and to celebrate all the wonderful ministries here at Knox, which are outlined in the Annual Report. We also spent time reviewing the past year's financial outcome that included a deficit of $31,000 - less than the original deficit expected at $65,000. The 2025 budget was presented, one that includes increased costs for new ministries, staffing, and other expenses; however, the expected revenue from donations and rental/parking income does not cover everything, leaving a shortfall of $120,000. Because this is not sustainable, the presentation included a list of considerations to increase revenue or decrease expenses, with the expectation that it will take more than one of these considerations to "close the gap."
The 2025 budget was approved, with the understanding that Session would consult with the congregation regarding these considerations with the goal of reducing the deficit towards a balanced budget. Session is in the process of determining how best to consult with the congregation and will share these details as soon as possible.
