We are an Easter people and…Alleluia is our Song!

Soon, we will be coming to the end of our Lenten journey. The Prayer Room and Prayer Bowl have become traditions here at Knox during Lent as well as our Sunday Lenten readings from Presbyterian Service and Development. This year we have also sent out (by email) daily reflections focused on our Lenten theme, “Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.” From Lent, we enter Holy Week and the Celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.

Palm Sunday March 25 at 10 am. Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. It is the day Jesus entered Jerusalem for the Passover Celebration. The Knox Praise Band will lead in music, as the children parade with palm branches and song. Junior High LOGOS will share a skit and our Lenten theme of “Loving with all your heart, soul, mind and strength” continues.

Maundy Thursday March 29, 6:45-7:30 pm. We join with LOGOS in the sanctuary for a time of worship as we remember Jesus’ last night with his friends. There will be Communion, music and a presentation “Were you there?” by the grades 4-6 LOGOS.

Good Friday March 30, 10 am. Congregational singing, choral music and traditional words lead us in the dramatic story of Christ’s death on a cross. A sacred service filled with hope.
A full church school program is offered and Hot Cross Buns served afterwards.

Easter Sunday April 1:

7:30 am Early morning outdoor worship. Meet at the church and walk to Waterloo Park. Fish and flat bread served from an open fire recalls Jesus by the shores of Galilee.

8:30 am Pot Luck Breakfast in the Hall.

10 am Easter Celebration with Communion in the Sanctuary.

Easter Offering: We hope that you can attend these services. As a sign of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and our commitment to embracing new life in Christ, you are invited to make a special Easter donation in the envelope provided. This Easter offering will assist our congregation in moving forward as we embrace new ways to share the Gospel of Love in our community.

Live Streaming of the Good Friday Service and the 10 am Easter Sunday Celebration are available at knoxwaterloo.ca.

Christians are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song. This is the good news we share as we tell the message of God’s love.

May the deep and abiding joy of Christ live with you always.
