Hooray for Food for Thought Cooks! Many thanks to everyone who has signed up to provide meals for FFT this term. It’s wonderful to have all the dates filled so early in the term! Thank you all SO much! -Nancy & David Matthews

House of Friendship – Thanks! to all of our volunteers who collected cash and potato donations at the Blitz last weekend. Our Fresco team collected 4 full skids of potato donations – one of which (100 bags) was donated by one person. Our Valu-Mart team generated lots of cash that will be used later to purchase potatoes direct from local farms. All will be used in emergency food hampers and in program meals throughout the year.

Wed@Knox, Feb 20th – Rev. Brooke Ashfield: On Guilt and Shame – Guilt and shame are two feelings that many non-church millennial people (born 1980-1999) associate with church. Rightly or wrongly, they feel that churches can be toxic to self-esteem. Is this part of Christianity? A closer examination will show that shame has no place in the church, and guilt, well some forms of guilt can be helpful. (Have you phoned your closest loved one this week? If not, feel guilty!)

The grade 4-6 LOGOS group needs your support to bring their LOGOS Canstruction creation to life and help our community partners at Waterloo Region Foodbank (canned fruit, canned meat & fish, and canned pasta sauce are particularly appreciated donations). Canned goods and cash donations will be collected in the atrium after Sunday service Feb 3, 10 & 17, or can be dropped off in the office through the week. The kids’ creation will be on display in the atrium Feb 21-28 – all non-perishable goods donated to the Foodbank. If you have questions please contact Nicole Bardeau at ncbardeau@gmail.com or Liz Fryer at logosknox@gmail.com

Senior High Save-the-date: Saturday, March 2nd, tubing/ tobogganing/pond skating at the Molenaars.

The Knox Inclusion Committee in partnership with Generous Space Ministries is showing BELONGING IN THE BODY: Transgender Journeys of Faith on March 3, 2019, 2:30 pm here at Knox. The one hour film follows the lives of several transgender Christians through their experiences of church, scripture and faith. Panel discussion and reception to follow.

Student Care Packages: At this time of year we like to send a small care package to our students who are nearing the end of their first year of post-secondary schooling. If you can help by providing 2 dozen homemade cookies that would be very much appreciated. Cookies should be nut-free and easy to pack as some will be sent by mail, and should be delivered to the church on Sunday, March 3rd. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board. For more information, contact Femmy Birks at 519-885-0530 or email: femmy.birks@sympatico.ca.

Shrove Tuesday is “marked by feasting and celebration, which traditionally precedes the observation of Lent.” The Sr High Pancake Supper Fundraiser is Tuesday, March 5th, 5-7 pm in the church hall. Tickets on sale now ($8 adults, $5 seniors/students, $25 family) and will be available at the door. Proceeds going to the Ray of Hope Meal Support Program.

Yemen Crisis Response: Yemen is presently the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Four years of conflict has resulted in widespread hunger and a devastating outbreak of cholera. PWS&D, along with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, has responded and will continue to respond in Yemen with emergency food assistance along with water and sanitation assistance. Please help if you can. Make a donation through Knox, by making a designated donation with an envelope, or at the givings desk. Please mark your donation “Yemen.” Thank you.

Photo Directory – Our next round of photo sessions will be April 8th – 10th. We want everyone included so if you have not signed up yet, visit the online link posted on our website at knoxwaterloo.ca. If you do not have a computer, contact Charlene in the office and she will sign up for you.
