We awoke this morning to find snow on the ground! Hopefully this will put you all in the mood to come out this Saturday to our Christmas Bazaar – Saturday November 9th 9-2. There will be approximately 25 vendors with wonderful hand made items and of course our own Bake Table and White Elephant. A light lunch is also available.
If you can donate items for the Bake Table (Squares, shortbread cookies, pies, gingerbread or preserves are welcome!) please bring them to the church kitchen between 9 am and 4 pm or 6 pm and 9 pm on Friday, November 8th. Note: Peanut free items preferred, however, items containing peanuts will be accepted but must be wrapped separately and clearly marked “May Contain Peanuts.” Questions: contact Nancy Holland at (519)699-5590/ (519)496-9524; email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Items for the White Elephant Table can also be brought in on Friday and left under the mailboxes in the hall.
This Sunday, November 10th is Remembrance Sunday. Deb Lacoste will play trumpet during our time of remembrance. The Senior High LOGOSwill read a poem and the Junior High LOGOS will tell the story of Sadako and light a candle for peace. The choir will sing “Like the stars in the sky” and “God weeps” and Andrew Hopper will play “We are the body” as we gather for worship. Our witnessing steward this Sunday is Rui Qiao and Deb Schlichter will highlight another area of our budget.
Our personal prayer to begin worship this Sunday is: On this day of memory, we gather to sing and to pray, we remember the past and look to the future. On this day when the guns once fell silent, we come before you God, seeking Your peace. On this day of hope in the face of terror, we come before you God, praying with all our hearts: God our help in ages past, our hope for years to come. Open our eyes and the eyes of the nations to find a different path through the disagreements of life in this world. In this time of story, song, and prayer, may we be re-committed to being people of Peace, true peace. May we catch a vision of how the world could live together. And so, we echo the old prayers, Make us channels of your peace. Let there be Peace on Earth and let it begin with us! AMEN
Hope to see you Saturday and Sunday,
Linda Ashfield, Associate Minister at Knox Waterloo
