Reflections from Romania 2006, from the annual report.
After a period of extensive planning and preparation my happy choristers arrived in Canada on September 20th for a tour of the four Atlantic Provinces as well as an intensive week in Ontario.
The total tour involved seven air flights so those who had any trepidation of flying soon adjusted. We sang in various churches in the east coast, including St. Andrew’s, Moncton , The Kirk of St. James in Charlottetown, St. Andrews Pictou, St. James in Truro, Kings Church New Minas, St. Andrews Luneburg, and St Andrews Sydney Mines.
To finish the week we flew to St. John’s Nfld. The weather was co-operative and we were able to see much of the surrounding areas in the Maritimes. In Ontario, we sang at the church offices and Knox College as well as concerts in Scarborough, Barrie, Hespeler, Niagara Falls, Delhi, Hamilton and London. I was really happy to arrive “home” for the last three days spent in Waterloo.
We participated in the two morning services on Sunday in addition to a well attended concert on Thanksgiving Monday. Our final concert was at noon on Oct. 10th at Wilfrid Laurier University, my alma mater, before flying back to Romania that evening.
On behalf of the choir members I would like to thank all the members at Knox who hosted us, and a special thanks to Barbara Nawratil our outstanding leader and to the Presbyterian Church in Canada for sponsoring this event of inestimable value.
When we returned to Romania I could really feel a new energy and a strong sense of spiritual fulfillment. I was so proud of all choir members, how they performed and how they acted as true Christian ambassadors throughout their Canadian travels. All are invited to view our website www.choir.tk to view some photos from the tour and to keep up to date with our ongoing activities. Your continued prayers and support are gratefully appreciated.Brian Johnston
