|Minister||Rev. Brooke Ashfield
Brooke enjoys the variety of ministry at Knox. He is part of the finance and stewardship teams as well as sharing his knowledge and study of leadership in the 21st Century church. Brooke shows enthusiasm for worship, congregational leadership and structures. He has a lifelong passion for the future, developing this discipline in seminary and continuing to stay on top of key issues today. Brooke enjoys reading, playing hockey (with an old timer’s group) and participating in an ecumenical clergy support group that is in its 21st year. He has a lively sense of humour, which sometimes slips out in worship.
|Minister||Rev. Linda Ashfield
As minister at Knox, Linda serves as a worship leader, preacher, pastor and teaching elder. She participates in Session, Council and supports our committees and task groups. Linda takes an active role in the Christian Education program, in particular the youth, young adult and adult ministries; as well as LOGOS, Confirmation classes, Adult Bible Study, Knox Reads program, youth and adult mission trips, Vacation Bible Camp and Wednesdays @ Knox. She enjoys reading, gardening and travelling. Linda is a gifted story teller with the ability to dramatize stories to enrapture and inspire both children and adults.
|Christian Education Director||Laura Vander Vleuten
Knox Waterloo is blessed to have vibrant Children’s and Youth Ministries. As the Christian Education Director for the past 10 years, Laura’s role is to ensure there are teachers, mentors and resources available to prepare our young people for their faith journey beyond their years at Knox. A goal of Christian Education is to empower adults and youth to develop relationships so they will achieve a living, lasting faith. Our Sunday School, LOGOS, Food for Thought, Upward Sports and Vacation Bible Camp ministries are examples of such best practices that build faith into the next generation. With her husband Ken and sons Reid and Brad, Laura has been a member of Knox since 1999.
|Music Director/Organist||Terry English
Terry shares her extensive experience as a choral director, clinician, teacher and accompanist (piano and organ). The purpose of our music ministry is to raise our voices to the glory of God. Through leadership and example, we encourage the full, conscious and active participation of the congregation, led by the Chancel Choir, Christmas Choir, Praise Band, music scholars, soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists and children’s choirs. We also encourage guest choirs and soloists to join us throughout the year. Our music reflects our Presbyterian heritage, along with contemporary liturgical hymnody, Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), jazz, gospel and music from varied cultures.
|Church Financial Officer||John Scace
As Financial Officer, John’s responsibilities include day-to-day financial management, sitting on the Finance Committee, and reporting to Session and the congregation on a regular basis. A sustaining elder of Knox Waterloo, John was on Session for many years, has served on the Personnel Committee and has also assisted with Sunday School. A Certified Management Accountant, John has extensive experience in manufacturing, the service industry and the not-for-profit sector. John is Past President of his Rotary club and was the recipient of two Paul Harris Awards. Along with his wife Joy, John has been a member of Knox since 1977.
|Church Administrator||Ruth Song
Ruth is responsible for the efficient day-to-day business operations of Knox Waterloo. Ruth supports the mission and life of the Church by facilitating staff requirements and is also the main point of contact for internal and external inquiries. Her primary responsibilities include managing facility operations and rentals; overseeing management of congregation records and correspondence; and coordinating communications such as the bulletin, newsletter and annual report. Ruth and her family worship at Knox Presbyterian Church, Elora, where her husband Andrew is the minister.
