Wednesday at Knox: April 18th Karen Scian “What does it mean to be a good citizen?” The news is full of stories of people and communities in distress, facing challenges that get even more complex every day. Waterloo Region is no different; the opioid crises and homelessness are serious concerns that we are dealing with here, right now. How can I help? What role can I play? Can we do something differently? Let’s examine this together. Karen Scian has been a Waterloo City Councillor, sits on a wide variety of community boards, has taught at Conestoga College’s School of Business and in 2014 launched the TALENT Business Solutions that focuses on organizational capacity. She writes regularly for the Waterloo Chronicle and is currently the chair of the Board at the Waterloo Public Library.
