Happy New Year!!!
I thought I would take this quiet time at LOGOS to update you on the 2018 Happenings. As you may be aware, LOGOS at Knox is Celebrating 25 Years! We decided that we could not let this opportunity go by without acknowledging such a milestone and have a few exciting events planned this Winter and Spring in Honour of all the dedicated people who have gone before us to make LOGOS a fun and exciting Ministry here at Knox Waterloo.
We are attempting to also reach EVERY LOGOS family this year to ensure you have had an up to date Orientation on what LOGOS is all about. In past years we have REQUIRED that all adults who either participate in or have a child in LOGOS attend a MANDATORY ORIENTATION MEETING. More recently we have gotten away from that but have realized the importance of having at least one member of each LOGOS family attend. The purpose is not to overload your already busy schedules but to provide a framework for why LOGOS is different from other programs. It is our belief that by attending, you will look at the importance of YOUR leadership in a new way and give thought to where you may be called in the future. If you did not attend the meeting in September, it is MANDATORY that you receive this information. We will host 2, 40 minute sessions on January 11 in the Lounge – the first from 5:15 to 6 and the second from 6:45 to 7:30.
We are holding a series of Workshops entitled “A Child In Our Hands”. Many years ago, Linda and a Team of LOGOS and Christian Education Leaders led a workshop by the same name. We loved the image this title embodies and we are going to be hosting a series of 4 workshops which can stand alone or be taken all together. They will be held on Sundays from 11:30 to 1 pm and a light lunch and child care will be provided. It is our hope that parents, grandparents, church and other leaders find the topics relevant and useful. LOGOS is a Ministry that connects people of ALL AGES and fills a vital NEED in a society where more and more people – young and old – are feeling disconnected and alone. We want to nurture the Faith and Belief in our one-ness and provide an opportunity for us to explore what it means to hold God’s Kingdom in our hands. We are requesting that people sign up ahead of time so that we can be sure we have enough food and childcare. Sign up sheets will be posted on the Bulletin Board by the Lounge.
The dates and topics are as follows:
Sunday January 21 from 11:30 – 1 pm: What is Our Current Culture? – Caring Conversations
Sunday March 4 from 11:30 – 1 pm: Celebrating Milestones – Rituals and Traditions
Sunday March 25 from 11:30 – 1 pm: Telling Our Faith Stories with our Whole Being
Sunday April 15 from 11:30 – 1 pm: Godly Play – Recreation (and Service)
In addition we will also celebrate our Milestone LOGOS Year with a LOGOS Anniversary Church Service on Sunday April 8. We are inviting anyone who has EVER participated in LOGOS to come on April 8 for a fun, energetic remembrance of LOGOS over the years. We are looking for photos and other LOGOS memorabilia. We are also trying to get in touch with former LOGOS participants so please start spreading the news now so that we can be sure to get the word out to as many people as possible. Watch upcoming bulletins for further details and about how you can help.
I look forward to seeing you all again on January 11 as we start off our New Year at LOGOS. Until then, I wish each and every one of you a VERY happy New Year full of love and surprises. May you find God’s hand in every thing you do.
“And now let us welcome the New Year, full of things that never were.” – Ranier Maria Rilke
