Mark your calendar now – Sunday, June 23rd – and don’t miss out on this “yummy” event. With the many disasters that people in our world are facing, we are thankful that PWS&D continues to work with its partners to be God’s healing hand in the face of pain and suffering. Currently, they are providing food assistance for drought-affected people in Pakistan and ongoing support for those affected by floods in Malawi and war in Yemen. The list goes on… Donations to PWS&SD can be made through Knox Waterloo by cheque, donating online, or using your credit card or debit card at the church. If you wish, you can mark your donation for a specific appeal. In many instances, as in the case of Pakistan, the donations will be matched 4:1 by the Government of Canada.
Easy Worship Volunteers – We are looking for 1 more new people to be trained in Easy Worship – that’s the people who put the images and words on the screen to aid us in worship. If you are at all interested in finding out more, please speak to Ruth Song, Rev. Linda Ashfield and/or Andrew Church.
Receive the Holy Spirit – Today begins General Assembly – the annual gathering of commissioners from across Canada who meet together to worship and discuss, debate and vote on matters that affect our denomination. This year’s theme is “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Last year, a first-time commissioner shared, “I came home feeling very blessed and encouraged about our Church. I loved the music and the praise team. They added so much to worship. The speakers and the messages were just what I needed to hear. It was an incredible experience and one I would gladly repeat.” Please pray for those gathered as they work together to plan the future of our church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
A ministry of care and companionship – Jesus showed care and compassion to those living on the margins of society, teaching us how to be a neighbour to everyone in need. In the same way, Boarding Homes Ministry strives to build community in the Greater Toronto area. Volunteers practice inclusion by visiting and sharing meals with people living in low-income housing, who are often isolated due to the stigmas of mental illness, addictions and poverty. The ministry also provides educational workshops for faith communities on how to be more welcoming and supportive to people who have experienced mental illness and trauma.
